2014

The first season of Riot Volleyball Club began in the 2014 season, and Corey Lougheed initiated it during his time teaching in Darwell, Alberta.  The first Riot team was a 15U Women’s team, and it consisted of athlete’s from the Darwell, Mayerthorpe, and Onoway areas.  There was a lot of work to do to start the club, jerseys to be designed, equipment to be purchased…everything starting from the ground up.  Local businesses were approached to help sponsor the start-up costs, and our small community club was born!

Premier results found on Volleyball Alberta are limited in these early years, but the initial Riot Volleyball team finished strong in Provincials, Division 4 - tied for 5th place.

2015

The Club played a 15U Team again under the direction of Corey Lougheed as head coach.

This year’s team played with more confidence now, with a year’s experience behind them, and they finished Provincials, Division 4 in 2nd Place, and brought home a Silver medal!  Volleyball Alberta named the Team All-Stars as Faith Wildman and Taylor Fergel.   They also had a great showing at Nationals, and finished tied for 5th place in Tier 4.

2021

Everyone's first year back after covid was a difficult one!  Everything was so unsure, but we did get together one 17U Team.  They were able to practice from February to May, however competitive play never happened in the Province this year...maybe next year?!
